Yard Service
65Lawn Maintenance
I'm pretty sure every time someone moves from living in an apartment or condo to a home with a yard for the first time, they think at first that now that they have a big spacious yard (or maybe a small one, either way), they're going to take care of it, keep it perfectly maintained, and soon be the envy of all their new neighbors. I wonder how long that feeling lasts? One month? Two months tops? Soon, though, yard work becomes what it almost always is: a chore that's far less fun than reading, catching up on the news, or watching sports - the important stuff. Once that happens, I hope you look, as I did, into finding a yard service - someone to take care of your lawn and yard for you, so you can focus on import things like spending time with your family, and sports. Most of the time people think these services are expensive, but if you shop around and compare quotes from well-referenced local outfits, it's definitely possible to keep your yard looking maintained and beautiful year round at low cost.
The problem is that despite the game being over, the hedges still need trimming, the lawnmower needs to be dragged out, spun up, and pushed around because that grass just refuses to cut itself. The trees hanging over your lawn need pruning, and there's no iphone app that will do it for you yet. That's not even mentioning the garden you may have planted thinking you could save some money and grow your own vegetables - all this stuff adds up in time and effort, and quickly! It's often not that there are a few big tasks when it comes to lawn care - it's that there are many many smaller tasks that by themselves an in aggregate are tedious for people who don't do this for a living. Take the lawn alone - turf management isn't easy - the grass needs to be trimmed and cut on schedule to keep it looking fresh, and all that cut grass needs to be cleaned up and hauled off. Raking is barely more fun than mowing the lawn.
Yard Services Do More Than You Think
Do you have plants and trees on your property? Tree maintenance is even more complicated - you have to deal with weeds, insects, weeds and other pest control. A competent full service yard maintenance service will handle things like tree pruning, raking leaves, clearing out underbrush and other debris, and hedge trimming and (possibly) decorative planning and sculpting. This is all in addition to fertilizing your plants and lawn.
They can even take care of non-yard outdoor tasks that homeowners don't want to have to do themselves, like leaning the rain gutters that hang over your roof. Cleaning and replacing shingles in the roof too. Basically, if it's outside and needs doing, there is a yard service in your area that can handle it for you. Possibly the best part? They have their own power tools and equipment, and through years of experience in lawn care and horticulture, will be able to take care of your lawn, yard, and garden much better than a layman could, and with less effort and stress. You could go with a student for a cheaper price, but personally I think quality is worth paying for. I highly recommend researching online, reading testimonials, and contacting lawn maintenance companies through their websites to shop around.
