Teak Chaise Lounge Chair

Summer is upon us, and that means more time spent out in the backyard with the family, gathered around the outdoor swimming pools, or just lounging about in the patio. I hope you're stocking up on new recipes for cold drinks, as this summer promises to be a hot one. If you're like me, you're already picturing lying out next to the pool, snoozing comfortably in between taking sips from ice cold lemonade. Paradise on Earth, at least for me. This year I've got a new teak chaise lounge chair by Strathwood to try out - after a few test runs I'm pretty sure I've found my new bed-away-from-bed for the summer. Sounds fancy, you may say, but I guarantee if you've been to a hotel pool you've seen one of these lounge chairs poolside - after enjoying one during a trip to Miami last summer I figured I'd get one for myself so I could relax at home. Instead of a cheap plastic knockoff, I went with a real teak model - I take my summer relaxing seriously and am willing to invest in quality. It completely livened up my full patio set, and fits in with the decor of my yard and garden perfectly, and I'm pretty sure my wife will want one for herself soon, so I'll be shopping again soon. Good thing teak wood lasts forever, and resists weather better than most other woods I've encountered.

Teak Chaise Lounge - Huh?

That's what I thought when I first heard the name. As you can tell, they come from France, but don't hold that against them, this is one of their good ideas. You take your standard chair, and if you sit in it while wet, the water collects in the seat! That's no good, I'm supposed to be drying myself off, not swimming while I'm sitting! The genius of the chaise lounge is that it has latitudinal slats of teak wood - the water can't collect anywhere on the chair, it's too busy falling through the cracks. You may be thinking now that you've seen these before, and you're right - they're at every public and hotel pool ever. How come people don't have them at their homes, I thought? Why don't people put a couple near their above ground swimming pool so their guests can lounge about in the sun in comfort? Now they can. And once you're dry? Pile on the outdoor pillows or large cushions and make it into an outdoor bed for sleeping in between dips in the pool.

Teak Chaise Lounge Chair Features

Not only that but teak chaise lounge chairs come with a bunch of features you wouldn't think to look for on a patio chair but are glad to find. Have a guest that's super short, or really tall? These recliner chairs can adjust the height and angle of the back to be comfortable for anyone, no matter their size. A guest who's a bit larger around? Since you went for heavy duty Amazon teak wood instead of flimsy plastic, you get not only aesthetic benefits, but your more stout guests won't suddenly find themselves in the middle of what was a lounge chair. Need support for your arms, a drink, a book, or anything else? That's what adjustable and removal armrests are for! Want to enjoy a snack while you lounge? Get a tray attachment, or bring your bed desk out from inside the house and use that! Lastly, these chairs are also mobile, usually with small wheels on one end so they can be easily picked up from the other side and moved to make sure you stay in (or out of, depending on what you want) the sun. I'm not suggesting you race them (but you can) but being able to move your lounge chair around the patio is really helpful, especially since your yard service can wheel them out of the way to work. As mentioned before, another great use is to add large cushions or outdoor pillows and get even more comfortable while cuddling up with someone special and watching the sunset.

Most people don't have much experience with teak wood, so here's some more information so you know what you're getting. Teak is a tropical yellow and brown hardwood tree from Southeast Asia. Given the environment and how swelteringly hot and humid it is, the tree is naturally resistant to pests that want to burrow around and avoid the heat and water vapor. The same teak oil it uses as a natural lacquer to repel pests are what gives it its weathering resistance that makes it such a prized wood for patio furniture and outdoor furniture in general - if your patio is made of teak wood, you can be sure that the elements will not get in your way. Termites? Rain? Storms? None of it will keep your teak chaise lounge from taking care of you.

You may think that this kind of furniture is purchased in person. While I always suggest shopping around online, you may want to test out how sitting in a teak chaise lounge chair fits before you buy. Still, don't think that expensive shipping costs should stop you from shopping online, many online retailers offer free shipping on large orders, in addition to lower prices, to compete with regular stores. I'll see you at the poolside!
