Secretary Desk

It took me a long time to realize what was wrong with my productivity at home. I wanted to be able to get some work done while not at the office, and for a while I mistakenly thought sitting on the couch or lying in bed would solve my problems. I was totally wrong, neither of those locations, nor any place I could find in my home worked for me. If was I sitting too comfortably my mind would wander and I'd doze off. Any other place, though, and I couldn't get all my work organized - the kitchen table was always too busy with the rest of the family occupying it, kids doing homework, etc. What was I to do? Enter my savior: the secretary desk, or "mechanical desk." It's basically a roll top desk with a bunch of additional features, but overall, it's incredible. Finally I found a cost effective space saving solution - Once I bought it, brought it home and assembled it, all I had to do was slide it into an out of the way area, and suddenly I had a desk I could store things in that wouldn't get in the way otherwise. Brilliant!

Like most people, we had a problem with order and organization at home. Our secretary desk is pretty inconspicuous to look at - just by seeing it one wouldn't expect it to be the productivity wizard it ended up being for me. The first time I saw it, at the store, I thought it looked like an old dresser. I almost thought my wife was suggesting she wanted more clothes! But as I looked closer, I could see the space saving storage innovations, and wondered why I hadn't seen one of these before. The storage compartments are actually hidden behind and underneath the desk, which can fold down to make an angled writing surface. The entire desk takes up much less space than a normal one would, which is fantastic, as space at my house comes at a dear premium. The angled surface is absolutely great for making sure your wrists don't get sore after working for an hour, and greatly reduces the likelihood of developing a repetitive stress injury. I'd like to stave off arthritis for as long as possible!

Secretary Desk - Affordable, Saves Space

If you can believe it, the space savings and productivity enhancements weren't the best part of the whole deal. The best part was the incredible affordability of the desk I picked up. I know furniture can be crazily expensive if you go for really rare and special woods, have tons of bells and whistles, and slap a really impressive brand name on it, but I was able to find a quaint wooden secretary desk that did all I needed it to for a few hundred dollars. Before I went shopping I'd been worried that a desk with a hinge top would automatically cost a ton, but soon I was home setting up the sliders and adjusting the slat supports to get started on a new lease of productivity. And when I'm not using it? Roll the top town and it's a decorative hutch, which my wife uses to store things during dinner parties.

If you're thinking about getting a miraculous space saving secretary desk (trust me, you will not believe how much clutter you get rid of, how much space you'll save, and how much additional work you'll get done!) I wholeheartedly suggest you do lots of research at various internet retailers to see which desk is right for you. In the end, however, you'll need to head to a furniture store and test one out for yourself, but it definitely helps to have read up on the specific features and options before you head into the store.
