Rehab centers use various methods to help their patients come out of their trauma. These centers use various technologies for fulfilling their goals. Firstly they use rehabilitation engineering which is the systematic application of engineering sciences to design, develop, adapt, test, evaluate, apply, and distribute technological solutions that are confronted by individuals with disabilities. The functional area that are addressed through rehabilitation engineering are mobility, communications, hearing, vision and cognition, and activities associated with employment, independent living, education, and integration to the community. Then there is another technology that is used and it is known as the rehabilitation robotics. In this kind of program robotic devices are used to augment rehabilitation. Telerehabilitation is the final technological mode of rehabilitation that is used in a rehab center. This is the delivery of rehabilitation over telecommunication networks and the internet. Telerehabilitation is very visual. The most widely used modalities are webcams, tele-videoconferencing over the phone lines, videophones and webpages that have rich internet applications in them.

Rehab centers give a lot of importance to the aspect of counseling in order to help a patient to fight with his or her predicament. When it comes to treat addictions in patients there is nothing better and effective than a proper counseling. Traditional addiction treatment is primarily based on counseling. But with the modern times there have been many new discoveries that have helped in the process of rehabilitation.
