Foot Massage Spa

According to veteran reflexologists, there’re certain pressure points located in everybody’s feet. These pressure points are connected to almost each and every area in the body. For instance, these pressure points are connected to your liver, spleen and many other parts of the body.

Thus, a good foot massage might be just what you need to heal the other parts of your body. It is in fact really amazing how the rest of the human body reacts to gentle pressures or warmth applied during the foot massage session. The application of warm stones enhances the body’s overall heat and/or pressure. And there are even more benefits here. Let’s take a look at how it’s done.

To begin with, let’s see what we need here for a gentle foot message. A few damp towels, 6 to 8 smooth and flat stones, a heat source (e.g. an oven), and a baking tray would do fine. Things get better if you have some essential massage oil handy. When you have all that arranged, start by wrapping the stones in the damp towels. Then put them on your baking tray. Keep the oven preheated (keep the temperature low… 200 degrees F is okay) and put the tray in it. Let it heat up for at least 20 - 30 minutes.

Make sure that the receiver of the foot massage makes himself or herself at home. Although you’re about to message only his/her feet, the whole body needs to stay in a relaxed or comfortable stance. This is to ensure that the recipient gets full-fledged beneficial effect. Start by lying down the recipient (either back or front is okay... whether the recipient is relaxed is most important here). A nice blanket is keeps the body temperature normal.

Your object will be to work on just one foot, to begin with. In fact, you can’t work with two feet at a time. Start by softly stroking the foot’s underside. Use your thumb here. When you have created a bit of heat with these mild frictions, just apply pressure (using your thumb) onto the heel’s bottom.

Put some pressure to the heel’s edges. Done? Then it’s time to work with your warm stones. Pick a stone to smoothly press in the foot’s flat underside. You stroked it just a while ago, remember? Keep applying pressure to different points on the heel. Use your other hand’s thumb here. This should go on for a minute or so.

Then it’s time you took another stone to apply it on the heel’s flat bottom. Keep holding both the stones in place, at least for 5 minutes. Take the stones away then and softly rub on the spot where they’ve been. That way, the foot doesn’t get or feel cold. Rotate the ankle as you keep gently rubbing the foot’s underside. This ensures that your recipient’s ankles are relaxed too. After that, you’ll move towards the foot’s ball and toes.

Initiate your work under the foot’s big toe. As you keep stroking the foot’s underside with a hand, put some pressure (with the other thumb of yours’) on the foot’s ball. Stroke up-down, as this is pretty much comparable with thumb wiggling moves! You have to stroke beneath the foot’s big toe. After that, you got to move down that line till you’ve stroked beneath the foot’s smallest toe. When you have done this, go back to that big toe. Start pulling mildly on it. Here, stroke this toe’s sides gently while pulling. Head down the line, so you can carry out the same actions with each and every toe.

Now, hold one of those warm rocks on the foot’s ball. The rock needs to be large enough for the toes (since they’re also resting onto it). Like before, hold for at least 5 minutes. When it’s time to remove, apply a gentle, yet swift rub to the entire foot. Then wrap up the foot with a lukewarm towel. That’s how the foot message is done on one foot. Just repeat this on the other foot.
