Is your dog the laziest member of your family? Does your dog sit around all day while you're at work and contribute nothing to the greater good of your family? If so, then it's time to enlist your dog in training lessons! Doggy lessons are proven to transform your dog's demeanor from walking food container to a productive member of both dog and human societies. You will be amazed with the results you will see after just a few sessions! I enlisted my dog in lessons, and within three sessions, he started fetching the newspaper each morning and stopped barking at the neighbor's poodle.

Why get dog training?

Lessons are essential to develop acceptable behaviors for man's best friend. Once your dog has a few sessions under its belt, you'll begin to enjoy taking your dog for walks to the park without hassle. Many dog training techniques have been developed by law enforcement agencies to train police dogs. Who knows?, you're dog might end up saving a life after taking lessons!

Who trains my dog?

Anyone can train your dog! Depending on how much you want to spend and the amount of time you want to spend training your dog, you have the option of hiring a professional dog trainer to come to your house or ideally, you can teach your dog yourself and become closer with your pet. Additionally, big chain pet stores like PETCO offer dog training sessions at many retail locations for very reasonable prices.

Tips for training your dog:

1. Be patient - Dogs will sense your frustration and continue to act out unless you maintain your composure.

2. Be in a good mood - If you're stressed out or tired, your dog will not be able to follow your instruction and will quickly become bored.

3. Make sure your dog is in a distraction-free environment - being around other dogs will split your dog's attention between you and his peers.

4. Give your dog treats when he completes his lessons

5. Don't be afraid to discipline your dog when he misbehaves by shutting him in a cage or room. Be sure to keep him occupied with a bone or other chew toy.

6. Understand that dogs are closely related to wolves and organize themselves in "packs". Once you bring a dog into your home, the animal considers you and your family to be its "pack". Make sure the dog understands that you and the rest of your family are the leaders of your "pack" and not the other way around.

7. Teach your dog lessons in short

8. The most important tip that I will give you, is that these lessons are not for the dog. They're for you! Lessons help you and your family communicate effectively with your dog so that both parties can have a enjoyable and fulfilling life together.

Examples of basic training lessons

1. Sit - Probably the most important of all of the commands for your dog.

2. Go to your bed - This one comes in handy when your dog comes over to lick you at inconvenient times.

3. Shake - Shaking hands is a fun trick that you can teach to your dog to mimic a human interaction.

4. Come - "Come" is an essential command to use when your dog encounters other animals during its walks.

I hope you have enjoyed my explanation of dog lessons. You can find much more information on the internet, including videos to show you every step of the way on training your dog to being the best he or she can be. I wish you good luck in becoming closer with your dog!
