6x9 Car Speakers

There’re a couple of things that you need to consider before you decide on any particular type of 6x9 car speakers. First and foremost, you need to figure out the best places for mounting those speakers. While some people want their 6x9 car speakers in the front, others prefer the car’s rear side for mounting. But in the same way, some super conscious buyers want uniqueness and prefer getting the speakers inside a built-in console. Secondly, you got to decide on their visibility as some people don’t mind showing their 6x9 car speakers to people, while others feel these speakers are better when hidden.

And thirdly, you got to decide on the kind of audio you wish to have from your 6x9 car speakers. There are high-end speakers that can satisfactorily replace the factory speakers. Or may be you just want the speakers to complement with other components. And also ask yourself whether you need these speakers amplified.

6x9 Car Speakers

The reason people want a set of 6x9s is for their size – they’re much bigger than the standard woofer cones that come stock in new cars, and many older custom systems. Since you get tweeters for the high ranges integrated into the speaker unit, and with their boost to the mids, you can handle a wide range of audio – versatility is the name of the game.

6x9 Car Speaker Installation

As you see here in these sample questions, there’re lots of decisions to be made before anybody purchases the right kind of speakers. Fortunately, some key information can help you decide on the right product and features. Let’s get to the main issue to begin with. Ask yourself where you’re planning to mount those speakers. Let’s be frank here… 6x9 speakers have been rated among the odd sized ones that hardly any vehicles cater for. That means you’ll have some additional work for the installation.

You could consider cutting into a typical parcel shelf (though, most experts won’t recommend this, unless you’re fond of the messy look). The second option you can consider is boxing the speakers and carefully building an optimal surround. In most of the cases, this’ll be done inside the boot. Still, when it comes to 6x9 car speakers, you can just add them beneath the seats or you can hide them in suitable consoles. According to experts, the second one is the more viable one. That’s because, there are chances that you will end up loosing some sound quality or effect if the speakers are hidden inside the boot. And better sound is the prime reason you got your 6x9 car speakers in the first place, right?

And let’s turn to the audio output issue. You were supposed to ask yourself about the audio output preferences, if you remember. In fact, 6x9 speakers have a reputation for producing sounds with mid ranges. And that is why too many people out there make use of them alongside subwoofers and/or tweeters. The majority of these speakers are well capable of bringing a decent chunk of bass. They can also achieve pretty high frequencies too. This is the reason they were sometimes used for bridging gaps between Subs or Tweeters for stopping the mid frequencies from getting drowned out.

Apart from that, your yet another consideration is, whether these speakers will replace any one of your car’s speakers. Well, there are clear chances that the car won’t have any  speakers this size. Still, that doesn’t mean it’s useless to install 6x9 car speakers. In most of the cases, you will need an amplifier or something like that for powering those. However, another option could be wiring directly from the speaker to the sockets on the stereo. And when you have wired from your stereo it's highly likely that those 6x9 speakers will remain under-powered. In the same way, the overall performance of these speakers will surely be compromised to some extent, at least.

And finally, if you’re just wondering how much you will spend on these, prices on typical 6x9 car speakers can vary a lot depending on how good quality they are. Nevertheless, price begins at around £30 and might go right as high as £250 or even more if you want a higher end pair of 6x9 car speakers.

What Are The Best 6x9 Car Speakers?

The question on everyone's mind - now that I understand 6x9 speaker installation, how do I figure out which brand and model is the best for me? Personally I suggest going with the known high end brands - these are the guys who've been doing car audio on a large scale for many years, and are respected and widely used for a reason. Don't think you have to go with some off-brand little known source because it'll make your setup unique. What's under the hood is less important than the performance and style you get from it, so go with components that work, and then make it yours by decorating the interior or even the speakers themselves.

Infinity and Alpine are by far my top two favorite speaker brands. I've used a couple of others including Pioneer and none have compared to the sound quality.
